Three top tips for a couple planning a wedding

1 - Keep it simple and trust your instincts

The Covid pandemic sharpened our focus on what is important to us – one of the few positives that came out of an awful time for so many of us. So work out early on what really matters to you and filter everything else through that.

Choose suppliers that you click with: from your celebrant to your photographer. It’s all about good communication, having a laugh, and feeling seen and heard.

2 - Keep things in perspective throughout the process and especially on the day

We all want the perfect wedding day - we don’t want anything to go wrong. But remember a wedding is one day; a marriage is a lifetime. We get married because we want that lifelong commitment. Be over the moon that you have found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and try not to sweat the small stuff.

Be as organised as possible leading up to the day, and then just go with whatever happens on the day.

3 - Most importantly, enjoy yourselves!

Hold on to how precious it is to have the freedom to bring the people we love together for the sake of enjoying and witnessing such a significant moment in our lives.

Take a few mental snapshots on the day – I don’t mean selfies or films, but take each other by the hand, look around, soak up the atmosphere, and how you are feeling, and store the memory away for later. Someone told my husband and I to do this, and we still enjoy remembering those moments.
